Blackspadehope it doesnt spell the end for Freehand !
If it does, not doubt inDesign will continue to improve alongside Illustrator.
Guess we wait and see :)
MeMeMeI think this could really bad news, the competition was good between them, there needs to be rivals,
But who knows the benefits may out way the costs.
PeteThere is an up side to this - No more GoLive! I think Freehand will be assimilated into Illustrator, Fans of Fireworks say goodbye and we'll see Flashpaper intergrated into PDF somehow.
If this goes through, which I'm sure it will, I wonder what Adobe will do with Breeze, Cold Fusion and Contribute?
JamesAnd you can bet the Freehand fans won't like that!
Lord, if I was studding now I would not be altogether happy with all this. Spend 6 months learning Go-Live, then when you graduate it no longer exists.
I'll have to poor out some liquor tonight for my old homey Fireworks. :-(
Calmefreehand is going down, top work adobe ;)
guess time will tell more... but i think for sure the motion side of things out if the merge could be interesting..
Blackspadeim not letting freehand out of my cold sweaty grasp until its inevitable :)
MeMeMeI hope the development of the programs doesn't slow and the price increase. (like i buy anyhow, but one day u never know)
Calmealthough some said, ohhhh noo!!!!! freehand is going... there always past versions to use if it is droped which i highly doubt.
id imagine they will merge and build quite a nifty vector app...
Blackspadeno doubt Calme, re: "a nifty vevtor app"
..evolution / change is the only constant. ;)
audiosex3000Bye freehand. Good riddance I say, besides illustrator will always be the one for me.
Do you think that flash will stick around or even better how about updating that crazy program fontographer! What a headache.
Yes I'm aware that I will be copping alot of flak for this
Calmefontographer upgrade could be good, ive always used fontlab to make fonts, but fontographer looks good with some development !
im also a illustrator person, but ive spotted quite a few annoying things id love to rip out of freehand and celotape into illustrator..
matthewbuchananI can't fathom being a professional web developer without using Fireworks. A great shame if they scrap it.
audiosex3000Okay I will you that. Fireworks is a useful app in terms of compressing images for the web, but who knows what adobe is up to.
I can sense that they will keep flash.
Oh yes fontlab is a blessing indeed
rossYup fireworks for me too... Waaay more than just a compression tool ;)
I don't know how I could live without its vectorised pixel lovin', non-destructive wonderfulness...
I doubt adobe will kill it....
redesignboyAdobe Freestrator or Ill-hand? I am sure that we won't see any serious changes for years... if it aint broke :-)
Barryat risk of sounding pessimistic, this can only be bad news, product development wise.
but on the bright side, we currently have good working versions of all software, what say we make a pact not to upgrade for the next 5 years?
oh, and I'm not a fireworkser, but I do have to sit next to Ross - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE DON'T DITCH IT! PLEEEEEASE! :D
