Jameshere's a great link, just in time for World Usability Day!
New TV3 website!
Warning: The following code may not be suitable to.. anyone.
Viewer discretion is advised.
QuickwebJebus, that is nasty! Viewing the source is like entering a time machine : )
I think this says it all...
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://new.tv3.co.nz
368 errors at the time of me posting this.
PeteMy time machine takes less time to render than it does to view the source of the pages!
James4000+ lines of code at the time of this post.
Tonight on 3
7:30pm Downsize Me - The TV3 website
8:30pm Everybody Loves Tables
9:30pm The 4400 (lines of code)
10:30pm 24 - Tonight Jack forgets about the terrorists and goes after the c**t who made this website!
Blackspadeoh my'
could they cram any more shit on one page ?
hard as hell to read.
-------
PS: nice 'usability-toolkit' poster shift! ;)
ZefI just love the text resizing - really subtle.
Also check out the search results - dark blue text on black - anyone got some nightvision googles I could borrow?
absorbWow, entirely dissapointing. Can't say much more than has already been said. Welcome to 1995.
yojasonHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha
nuf said.
NastyMcFlyWell for all you Auckland bods, the site is going to be usability tested live as part of World Usability Day. Let's let the users decide.
(For details on the event go to http://www.upa.org.nz)
leftisrightarghh must protect eyes, must avert now, cant do anything but watch those damn scrolling marquees. not cool!
and wats up with the black? how does this align with the current brand colours?
ZefThe big questions:
* Who did the TV3 site? (this Aussie company did the branding apparently)
* Was it a NZ firm?
* I don't want to shame anyone (well, maybe a bit) - but if they're locals I'll gladly send them my spare copy of 'Don't Make Me Think'.
SubcideIt was designed by CanWest's internal IT department, they also did redesigns for www.theedge.co.nz and www.therock.net.nz.
PeteI think Zef's right and we should send a web standards care package to CanWest's internal IT department. I can throw a copy of 'Cascading Style Sheets: Separating Content from Presentation'.
JamesNo, I think we should send a fucking brick threw the window of CanWest's internal IT department!
Barrybit late to this but I concur.
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
*looks around for said brick*
Barry"but if they're locals I'll gladly send them my spare copy of 'Don't Make Me Think'."
or how 'bout HTML for dummies?
muahahahahaha
ZefCalm down - I'm sure in our careers we've all done work we've less than proud of. As designers we face all sorts of external pressures on our work - from the client, the marketing company, the budget, the technology...
Rather than being confrontational see this as an opportunity to invite CanWest's IT Department to join our wider community - offer your help, advice, expertise...
Does anyone here personally know the web designers/developers inside CanWest? (I assume they're based in Auckland). Here's your opportunity to take the initiate and be a leader - invite them out for a coffee and talk about FTM, UPA, DINZ, W3C and accessibility.
matthew-hI'm glad people agree with me that their new site sucks.
Anybody remember a couple years back when they actually offered forums? They were removed because of the whining preteen Dragonball Z/Charmed fanboys who claimed they knew more than TV3. You would think that they offer some ID service that they would reconsider forums as it would be easier to police...
Let's tie the book to the brick. Whoever gets hit by it will have usability knocked into them. :p
PipProd.waaaaa its so overwhelming! and I think I will have to purchase a magnifying glass to read it! It hurts my feelings.
codegirli find it interesting that they've used CactusLab to design their own website, and yet they've somehow gone bad with tv3??
